The Vision Research  Foundation was chartered in 2006 to support and promote vision research, to educate the public and health care personnel in ophthalmic health, and to care for patients with vision threatening diseases.  It formalized Associated Retinal Consultants decades-long dedication to clinical research of adult retinal diseases.  It oversees conduct of both governmental and industry research as well as funding individual clinically relevant adult retinal research projects.  These research projects include protocol supervised studies of new therapies for age-related macular degeneration, both wet and dry, as well as diabetic retinopathy, ocular inflammatory disease and other adult retinal vascular diseases.

Funding has supported:

  • Research leading to pharmacologic therapy for wet age-related macular degeneration;
  • Research leading to pharmacologic therapy for diabetic macular edema;
  • Research leading to pharmacologic therapy for branch and central retinal vein occulsion.

The Vision Research ROPARD Foundation also funds original adult retinal research projects which generate both new pharmacologic and surgical  therapies.  These funds support both laboratory and clinical research targeting a range of retinals diseases including:

  • age-related macular degeneration;
  • retinal complications of diabetes;
  • ocular inflammatory diseases.
